Woodgrain aluminium is low maintenance, not no maintenance. Here is a simple schedule to keep it looking new for decades.

Every few months: a rinse

In normal conditions, a rinse with the hose a few times a year removes dust and pollen before it builds up. In coastal and marine zones, rinse more often to clear salt.

Twice a year: a gentle wash

Wash the surface with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive detergent using a soft cloth or sponge, then rinse clean. This is all the routine cleaning the finish needs.

Avoid harsh products

Do not use abrasive pads, harsh solvents or high-pressure cleaners at close range, as these can damage the finish. Mild detergent and a soft cloth are all that is required.

Spot-check after storms

After major storms, check screens and gates for trapped debris and clear leaves from behind battens and from soffit junctions, especially in bushfire-prone areas.

Annual once-over

Once a year, walk the facade and check trims, fixings and gate hardware. Catching a loose trim early keeps everything looking sharp. That is genuinely the extent of the upkeep.
