Shou Sugi Ban

The Japanese tradition of charring timber for a black, textured finish.

Shou sugi ban (yakisugi) is a Japanese technique of charring timber to preserve it and produce a deep black, textured surface. In real timber it requires burning, sealing and maintenance.

Our Charred Timber finish captures that dramatic charred-black look in aluminium, with none of the burning or upkeep.
