The eave is the lower edge of a roof that projects beyond the wall, shading windows and shedding water away from the building. The underside of the eave is the soffit.
Eaves are a recognised weak point in bushfire exposure because embers can lodge there, so a non-combustible eave lining is a sensible detail on BAL-rated land.
